Bi-Objective Optimization for Multi-Row Facility Layout Problem Integrating Automated Guided Vehicle Path

For machining workshops that use automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for material handling and management, workstation layout AGV path are coupling factors affecting the cost (MHC). The multi-row is a typical pattern in many workshops, currently, there lack of studies on problem (MRLP) while taking into account path. This study established bi-objective optimization methodology integrating to minimize MHC area occupancy. Specifically, workstations transfer stations were arranged workshop following several non-intersecting paths decrease distance between workstations. First, model was established. Second, hybrid approach combining non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) tabu search (TS) proposed solve it. effectiveness verified practice structural components workshop, results compared with loop-based layout. In addition, an exact another based algorithm (GA) simulated annealing (SA). experimental showed able achieve better sets Pareto solutions within reasonable computational time.
